# Grainfold 1.1.13 for Windows — VST3

This release brings the Windows VST3 instrument up to the Grainfold iOS 1.1 build 13 parameter model. It includes grains up to two seconds, tempo-synced grain length, sync controls on each rate knob, beat guides, and the existing `.grainfold` project format.

When LENGTH and SPAWN RATE are linked, the following control remains adjustable: turning it changes OVERLAP and displays the resulting length or rate. The following control does not select a separate tempo division while linked.

## Requirements

- Windows 10 or 11, x64.
- A 64-bit VST3 instrument host.

## Install or update

1. Close your DAW and extract `Grainfold-1.1-build13-Windows-x64-VST3.zip`.
2. Copy the complete `Grainfold.vst3` folder into `C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\`. Keep its `Contents` folder and every file inside it. Windows may ask for administrator permission.
3. Reopen your DAW and rescan VST3 plug-ins. In REAPER, use **Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → VST → Re-scan**.
4. Add **Grainfold** as an instrument on a MIDI track. Choose **LOAD AUDIO** or **LOAD PROJECT**, then send MIDI notes to play the selected region.

To update an existing installation, close the DAW and replace the whole `Grainfold.vst3` folder. Keep one installed copy in your host's scan paths.

## Projects and automation

Share a `.grainfold` project from iOS with its source audio included, copy it to Windows, and open it with **LOAD PROJECT**. Use **SAVE PROJECT** with audio included to send an edited project back to the mobile app. A linked-audio project still needs its original audio file.

The new `grainSizeSync` control retains its beat division separately from the free grain length. Existing host parameter identifiers remain in place. As in the updated iOS app, LENGTH now spans 5 ms to 2 seconds. Review existing DAW automation for LENGTH: a saved normalized automation value can select a different duration after this range expansion. Project files store the duration in seconds.
